Certified HIM Coder-On Site Position

Job Description

Scott County Hospital, located in Scott City, KS, is seeking a dedicated Certified HIM Coder to join our family-orientated team. As a Certified HIM Coder, you will assign codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and billing. This role requires expertise in ICD-10-CM diagnoses, adherence to coding standards, and review of medical records for completeness.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Utilize technical coding principles to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnoses.
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and ethical standards.
• Review medical records for completeness and accuracy.

Requirements

• Two years of direct coding experience and completion of a certified coding program (RHIT, CPC, CCS, CCA, COC-H).
• Basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• Successful passing of AHIMA's or AAPC's coding exams.
• High school graduate.
