Responsibilities

• Promote professionalism and foster a cooperative working environment.
• Ensure specimens are obtained following laboratory guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with care providers regarding patient data.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organizational priorities.
• Follow procedural directions and protocols accurately.
• Assist in workload organization and productivity maintenance.
• Handle specimen packaging and transport appropriately.
• Perform patient registration, lab test ordering, and specimen processing.
• Demonstrate proper infection control practices and patient identification.
• Collect and process drug screens when assigned.
• Answer laboratory department phone calls and monitor phlebotomy draw list.
• Engage in self-evaluation to improve knowledge and skills.
• Promote service excellence and contribute to laboratory growth.
• Work collaboratively with multiple departments within the hospital.
• Perform laboratory tests and assist in preparing laboratory equipment.
• Assist other laboratory personnel with assigned tasks.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a phlebotomist upon hire.
• Certification as a medical lab assistant within 2 years of hire date.
• Experience in a clinical setting.
