Responsibilities

• Promote professionalism and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Obtain specimens following laboratory guidelines.
• Communicate effectively to relay essential patient or sample information.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Follow protocols for specimen handling and transport.
• Assist in patient registration, lab test ordering, specimen processing, and distribution.
• Ensure infection control practices and proper patient identification.
• Perform drug screen collection and processing.
• Respond to lab department inquiries and manage phlebotomy services.
• Recognize and handle emergent conditions professionally.
• Contribute to service excellence and laboratory growth.
• Engage in self-assessment to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Conduct laboratory tests following established procedures and protocols.
• Assist in preparing laboratory equipment for testing.
• Support other laboratory colleagues with relevant tasks as assigned.
• Execute additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a phlebotomist from a nationally recognized agency upon hire.
• Certification as a medical lab assistant from a recognized agency within 2 years of hire.
• Experience in a clinical setting is beneficial.
