Responsibilities

• Promote professionalism and maintain a cooperative working environment.
• Obtain specimens following laboratory guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with care providers regarding patient data and samples.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Adhere to procedural directions and protocols.
• Assist in workload organization and productivity maintenance.
• Follow proper protocols for specimen packaging and transport.
• Perform specimen accessioning and drug screen collection.
• Conduct proper infection control practices and patient identification.
• Provide phlebotomy services in a professional and patient-centered manner.
• Engage in self-evaluation for continuous improvement.
• Ensure quality care and promote service excellence in the laboratory.
• Collaborate with multiple departments within the hospital.
• Perform arterial punctures and other assigned duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program or previous phlebotomy experience is preferred.
• Experience working in a clinical setting is an advantage.
